On the morning of May 12, my brother and I got up early and hiked to Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park. The hike takes you along a ridge lined with chains so you can hang on and feel a little more confident that you’re not going to fall 1,000-odd feet to the valley floor below.

After Angel’s Landing, Chad and I were riding the shuttle out of the park, and we saw another couple from the hike on the bus. They asked, “Is that the only thing you guys are going to do today?” We said yes, and they said, “Us too.” I said, “I gotta get married this afternoon.” Because I did. Emily and I got proper hitched by this guy, Steve Masefield, near the South Campground in Zion. The peak behind us is called The Watchman. (photo courtesy Chad Leonard)
